Having a midlife crisis sounds almost cliché and yet it hits most people. We give it the name ‘midlife’ but really, a life crisis can happen at any time. It’s often a slow development and then one day we realise there is a problem. It could be that suddenly we become aware that death is coming closer and we haven’t done all the things we wanted too. Or that suddenly all the things we wanted appear meaningless. During that time anxiety and depression often rank high and it may all feel too much and too overwhelming.
Challenges could appear in any area of life starting with failing a relationship, parents dying, children moving out, sleep problems, panic attacks, losing confidence, not liking a career, boredom, fear of death, etc. Often people react by doing things that seem out of character or completely withdraw into themselves.
Hypnotherapy can help to clarify thoughts and beliefs and help with the adjustment to living and most of all thinking differently. This is done by looking at underlying beliefs and releasing any old fears and worries that are influencing the way we think.
