I have helped clients to work with ancestral memories and free themselves from emotional pain. Various psychologists, especially Carl Jung, have speculated that we are born with the memories and experiences of our ancestors. It is amazing that memories from our ancestors influence us without us even being aware of it.
I am constantly surprised that there are so many new things that can be uncovered during regression. Sometimes, simply by removing pain or a block, a client is suddenly able to learn more quickly and easily, or play music that they have not been able to previously, but more commonly feels anxiety free because an energetic charge has been dissipated.
Just as we do, our ancestors had their own beliefs and experiences. They may have experienced wars, disaster and poverty which affected them personally or collectively. Many of their experiences left imprints on our memories. All these traumas continue to be passed along unless we address them. They could be all sorts of experiences; abuse, challenges, lack of finances, and relationships, for example.
Ancestral memories are not only of actual events – it is not quite the same as past life regression; they are instinctive behaviour patterns which are brought about by the environment of earlier ancestors. Ancestral memory is a biological memory that we are born with. We are all connected – not only to each other but across our entire ancestral lineage. Our subconscious holds the wisdom and knowledge from our ancestors, culture and heritage. Through the subconscious, we can learn to understand why traits and certain behaviours were passed down through generations. Ancestral patterns can be released and our ancestors honoured at the same time.
